On this episode of the Raw Islam Podcast with Imam Azhar, the Imam and B.C. Dodge talk about the last 10 days of Ramadan and the blessing that are held there in. Yes, this is an episode that didn’t make it out of production till now – which is after Ramadan…totally our fault, sorry about that!
The second part of Ramadan about is about forgiveness. Islam doesn’t revolve forgiveness, Islam is about making ourselves better, finding the evil in us and removing it from our lives.
That is not to say that there isn’t forgiveness in Islam, there are many hadith that talk about having our sins forgiven simply by going to Friday prayers – Jummah. The hadith is that if one goes to two Friday prays in a row all the transgressions between the two jummahs are forgiven. It is even reported that the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) is reported to have said that he would ask for forgiveness more than 80 times a day.
Sometimes we forget that we have our own issues, sometimes we forget that we need to look at ourselves in the mirror, and sometimes it is far simpler to point out the flaws in others and what they are doing wrong, before we correct our own ways.
Imam Azhar talks about how when he does public speaking events there are so many people that come up to him afterwards always saying something to the effect of “I have done so much wrong in my life how can Allah forgive me?”
The truth is that it is so very important for us to understand forgiveness as God had presented it to us.
