Welcome to the very first Islamic Faith in Focus with Imam Hassan, of the Muslim Social Service Agency.
On this inaugural episode of this podcast we get to meet Imam Hassan, who Imam Hassan Amin is the Imam at Johns Hopkins University and volunteer Islamic Chaplain at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Additionally, he is the Islamic chaplain with Baltimore City’s Police Department and Islamic chaplain with United States Park Police.
He has over twenty-five years of volunteer service as a counselor at the Islamic Community School in West Baltimore. He also was an instructor and principal at the Islamic Community School.
He is the founder and executive director of Muslim Social Services Agency of Baltimore City, Maryland. Since 2003, his organization has helped over 50,000 low income and homeless families and individuals connect to social service needs. Imam Amin is also a board member of MercyUSA, a worldwide aid and development organization.
He has received two Mayor’s Citation for his contribution to the civic welfare of Baltimore City. Imam Amin received a Proclamation from Mayor Martin O’Malley. The mayor designated March 4, 2004 as “Imam Hassan A. Amin Day” in Baltimore City. This day was proclaimed because of Imam Amin’s fighting of crime on the streets of Baltimore City, cleaning up neighborhoods and successfully leading a campaign that removed drug dealers from a Baltimore City playground.
