On this #DamnItCarl podcast B.C. Dodge asks – when can a white male enter the conversation of #MeToo?
From Brett Kavanaugh to Bill Cosby; from Harvey Weinstein to Louis C.K., men that have abused their power for far too long are being called to the mat and are being held responsible for their inappropriate actions and behaviors.
And this is a good thing! It’s a beautiful thing! Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should, and if what you are doing is wrong…you need to be held accountable.
But for B.C. the question he struggles with is what is that line between speaking up and showing support, and mansplaining?
Women are powerful and can do so much, do they honestly need another male to speak up and be like “Ya! Listen to the women.” It would seem that after the Kavanaugh hearings that maybe they do (which is really more sad than anything), but does it help, or does it do more harm?
B.C. honestly asks his viewers and listeners where the line is and how he can help support #MeToo, without getting in the way and harming the movement?
